What is it?

Veetro: Veetro is an online (hosted software) team and business management system that helps you to work more efficiently and become more profitable. Including tools such as electronic timesheets, projects, billing, sales pipeline, helpdesk and document management, Veetro makes your organization work better.

Veetro

Who makes it?

Veetro

Why is it the killerest?

For Entrepreneurs and start up businesses it is a low-cost solution to setting up all your essential IT such as document management, electronic timesheets, billing and invoicing.  It also gives you instant reporting so you can track things such as productivity and billings... all the things that a business doesn't worry about until they are forced to.  Low cost and instant setup.

What could be improved?

Integration directly into Outlook would be cool. A bunch of the FAQs on the sales site don't have information in them, which is strange. They tease about a developer API but don't have one yet.

How much does it cost?

Free - $39.95/month

I don't think the guys at Veetro get it either. Basecamp seems much better.

Veetro is much more than just the project management software available via Basecamp. Project Management is not a solitary part of your business, it should be integrated into your entire business. Veetro does this by integrating timesheets, calendars, billing and a whole host of other tools in the single, unified business management platform.

Veetro has been updated to include blog writing tools, better invoicing and customer support/help desk for your clients. It is now also free for up to 2 users and half price for up to 5 users.

I've been evaluating a number of web-based time tracking and billing applications and while Veetro is one of the more fully featured offerings, it comes up very short on usability. The interface is non-intuitive and inconsistent and very slow to respond. I was hopeful that I'd be able to turn tracked time into invoices - one feature that not many other apps like this allow - and there doesn't seem to be an apparent way to do this. What's more, the Help system was down, so I couldn't even find out if this is possible at all. I love the invoice templating feature and some of the other affordances in the very robust set of features it offers, but the user experience is a productivity killer and gets low marks in my book.

Just a quick note that Veetro 2.0 has been released. Massive improvement in user interface and integration with PayPal, Google Payments, Outlook and Gmail. Getting started is also much easier.
Oh - and we've renamed it WORKetc
