Who makes it?

Vertical Web Media LLC

Why is it the killerest?

It's a magazine consistently providing indispensable wisdom, ideas, statistics, data, analysis, case studies, and success stories. I'm a recent subscriber and I can't believe I didn't know about it earlier.

A couple examples: in this month's (July 07) issue, I learned that adding three or more payment options at checkout (e.g. Credit Cards, PayPal, Google Checkout) has raised sales by an average of 14% according to payments processor CyberSource Corp.

I also learned that Amazon (at the top of the list) spent $662mil on technology in 2006 on revenue of almost $11 billion (!!). Overstock.com was 2nd with $65mil in expenditures on revenue of $788mil, and Netflix 3rd with $48mil on revenue of $997mil.

What could be improved?

I can't recommend the email newsletter. It's far too often and noisy.

The spam/content ratio of the magazine is what you might expect for free, but the gems are easy to find.

It's only free for those in the U.S. :(
Fortunately it's also almost all online.

How much does it cost?

gr8 review of Internetretailer.com. I am really glad that WorkHappy has spent sometime with this site. I usually glance this site every few days (frequency of updates are about that). I have also been purchasing their "Top 500 Guide" for the last few years. This quality report has excellent literature, data and statistics.

The people at Vertical Web Media spend a lot of time and effort (its evident from the quality). Anyone that is doing 'anything' with Internet retailing should be frequenting this site more than often. I teach e-commerce at a University and this is one of the top resources I recommend to students and budding entrepreneurs.

I would watch out for this magazine! While most of the content is normally very good, the publishers likes to use it for his political soap box and slam those who don't agree with him. Just checkout the Oct. 2008 endorsement of Barack Obama. Its not really a matter that Jack Love (the publisher) endorsed Barack, but does he really need to throw a lot of his readers under the bus! I WAS getting the magazine for the internet stuff but it looks like Jack has a different idea of what the magazine should be.
